don't forget the flowers

"Never forget," whispered the flowers
- golden poppies, the first to bloom -
the spring rain splashing their
satin-saffron petals into streams.

"We'll see you again,
     and again, and again,"
returned the trees,
"in the garden, waking the bees."

  1. This is cute, Bones. Those trees are wonderful witnesses, if only they would tell what they see. I am glad yours will.

  2. Mmmmm...the awakening and the reconnection. Its so nice to know that the good times come around again. Not often enough to make it too familiar, but often enough to make every memory as important as it needs to be. Awesome writing. Thank you so much.

I've always loved the idea of nature communicating with itself in the way you describe the trees speaking to the flowers. It gives me such peace. Like this very much!

"satin-saffron petals" ... jealous of that phrase and "in the garden, waking the bees." Just gorgeous.

  6. The saddest thing about poppies for me is that the do not last long enough - but what a glorious splash of colour they give to spring days.
